  • In 2009, the Laval region recorded an unemployment rate that was 0.9 of a percentage point lower than the Quebec average (7.6% vs. 8.5%).
  • The Laval region’s employment and labour participation rates in 2009, 61.9% and 67.0% respectively, were still higher than Quebec rates (59.7% and 65.2%).
  • The ISQ anticipates increased labour scarcity in the Laval region, forecasting that the labour replacement index will drop from 110% to 86% between 2006 and 2021 and then rise to 97% by 2031.
