Where nature is bountiful

Nestled on a hillside and cradled by the many surrounding trees, the spa La Source Bains Nordiques is a haven of serenity offering a relaxing experience in the heart of a bountiful natural environment.

Patrice Lalancette and his partner Caroline Simard, two dynamic and go-getting young entrepreneurs, launched La Source Nordic baths in February 2007 and it has been growing by leaps and bounds ever since. The wild beauty of the spa’s environment and the quality of its services help explain its runaway success.

Indeed, set like a jewel in a crown of nature, this one-of-a-kind leisure centre offers a complete line of pampering treatments, including thermal and steam baths, Nordic and thermal waterfalls and massotherapy rooms to satisfy the most discerning guest.

After three years of operation, the spa has been so successful that the owners have sometimes had to hang out the No Vacancy sign. To meet the growing demand from both local and international clients, La Source had no choice but to embark on Phase II of its development plan, investing more than $1.8 million to expand its facilities.

As Patrice Lalancette explained: “For the most part, the work was contracted out to Lanaudière companies in order to promote local investment and jobs. I am proud to say that this second phase of our development created some additional 15 jobs, bringing the staff to 60. All the new spaces are vast, user-friendly and surprising. Worthy of the La Source environment!”

Canada Economic Development had no hesitation in agreeing to Mr. Lalancette’s request for funding. The Agency’s contribution helped complete the spa’s expansion and improvements.

The Matawinie Regional County Municipality (RCM) abounds in enchanting nature sites conducive to unwinding and relaxing. As a result, it boasts an exceptional tourism offering that boosts the reputation of the Lanaudière region, which, incidentally, has made tourism a cornerstone of its economic development. What a wonderful way to diversify an economy that still relies on the forest industry for its livelihood and growth.

“For the most part, the work was contracted out to Lanaudière companies in order to promote local investment and jobs. I am proud to say that this second phase of our development created some additional 15 jobs, bringing the staff to 60, explained Patrice Lalancette.”

Thanks to the vision of entrepreneurs like Mr. Lalancette and Ms. Simard, people looking to take a break and relax in a beautiful natural environment can now choose from a range of tempting packages, while discovering the charms of the region.

With a solid reputation based on a top-quality product and a unique concept, La Source Bains Nordiques can now build on its success and strengthen its international customer base. The Matawinie RCM and the entire Lanaudière region stand to benefit from this tourism renewal and the sustainable jobs it will create.
