The shift to higher productivity

To carry out his company’s productivity enhancement plan, Laval Tremblay decided to expand the Fene-tech plant and reorganize and modernize its equipment and facilities. A search for financial partners to assist in this major undertaking brought him to Canada Economic Development’s door. Thanks to the Agency’s support, Fene-Tech was able to acquire sophisticated equipment to reorganize its production line as well as high-performance software to help harmonize the operations of its sales and manufacturing departments.

“When an enterprise decides to modernize and undertake a major shift, the financial support of partners can play a major role in the choices it makes as well as in its capacity to improve productivity,” explained Fene-tech President Laval Tremblay. “The assistance we received from Canada Economic Development allowed us to enhance our production line in order to stay competitive and continue growing in this fiercely competitive market.”

Given the ever-rising demand for Fene-tech products, the choices made by Laval Tremblay and his team have clearly been the right ones. Every week, the doors and windows manufactured in Amqui make their way to Quebec, Ontario and Atlantic Canada markets through a well-established distribution network.

Fene-Tech is one of the crowning jewels of the Matapédia economy. It is also a prime example of how to play your cards right in a regional economy that relies heavily on forest resources.
