Today, digitally-operated
machining centres powered by high-performance software and
outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment have made it possible to
produce aluminum and steel moulds that at one time could only have
been possible in wood. Advances in human knowledge and know-how
have completely altered the face of smelters and are continuing to
evolve with the constant emergence of new practices and
approaches.
Yet few enterprises are able to provide these smelters with high-tech, diversified expertise in the design and manufacture of metal moulds and models. In 2006, André Dionne, Jocelyn Lavoie and Luc Paris, respectively consultant, moulder and president of Paber Aluminium, decided to join forces and pool their experience in order to create a new company, DLP Technologies.
With the support of Canada Economic Development, the three partners invested $1 million in this new startup. The repayable contribution from the Agency allowed DLP Technologies to acquire leading-edge manufacturing equipment.
Thanks to leading-edge equipment and a team that combines vision with know-how, DLP Technologies has everything it needs to gain a solid foothold in the smelting industry.
Today, the result is an ultra modern five-axis machining centre operating in Cap Saint-Ignace that combines equipment to meet the new challenges of the industry. This computer-controlled equipment, characterized by its reliability, speed and versatility, makes it possible to carry out highly complex jobs with the greatest of precision.
“We are very satisfied with the performance of this new equipment, but it is our team that is the real secret behind our strength and success,” noted André Dionne, Director of Sales and Administration. “Our knowledge of smelting processes meets the strict requirements and high standards of our customers. We’re operating in a very advanced sector and our expertise is our very best asset.”
In just 30 months of
existence, the fledgling firm already has 15 customers to its
credit, has created 14 jobs in the community and expects to hire an
additional two to four employees in the short term. The company
also expects to quadruple its sales over 2006 levels by the year
2010.
Thanks to leading-edge equipment and a team that combines vision with know-how, DLP Technologies has everything it needs to gain a solid foothold in the smelting industry, one of the crowning jewels of the Montmagny-L’Islet economy since the founding of the Bélanger smelter in 1871.
