Saguenay – Lac-Saint-Jean Business Office
The Agency encourages the development of Saguenay – Lac-Saint-Jean business communities by assisting the region’s SMEs with their projects directly. We also assist economic development stakeholders and the economic organizations that support these SMEs in the region.
Regional priorities
In the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region, the Agency gives priority to projects that foster the development of the following sectors:
- Aluminium
- Forest products
- Tourism
- Agri-food
- Biomaterials and genomics
- Industrial minerals
In addition to the sectors mentioned above, the Agency also gives priority to projects that foster the development of regional entrepreneurship in emerging sectors, or viable and growth-generating projects (e.g. aircraft). Equipment manufacture is fostered in targeted niches.

- Offers professional support and specialized information services on all private and government programs and services to entrepreneurs in Eastern Quebec.
- Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs)
- CFDCs contribute to the economic development of their communities by providing services to enterprises: access to funding, technical assistance and support for local, youth and female entrepreneurship.

- Supports SMEs in approving and developing new products or procedures. Financial assistance is awarded after the project has been assessed by an industrial technology advisor.
- SERDEX International
- Coaches exporting or potentially exporting SMEs in the Saguenay—Lac Saint Jean region in seeking new markets. Offers counselling services in electronic business and a watch service for government contracts.
- Centre d'entrepreneuriat et d'essaimage de l'Université du Québec (french)
- Promotes entrepreneurship and the creation of enterprises in the academic community through the following services: personalized coaching and advice at the enterprise startup stage, entrepreneurship awareness activities, research grants, international internships and a technology internship program with enterprises.
- Tourisme Saguenay—Lac Saint Jean
- Markets the region’s tourism products on international markets.
