Through the Québec – Chaudière-Appalaches Business Office, the Agency encourages the development of Québec business communities by assisting the region’s SMEs with their projects directly. We also assist economic development stakeholders and the economic organizations that support these SMEs.

Regional priorities

For the Quebec Metropolitan Community (comprising the Quebec Metropolitan Area, the City of Lévis and the Jacques-Cartier, Côte-de-Beaupré and Île-d’Orléans RCMs), the Agency gives priority to projects that foster the development of the following sectors:

Life sciences, health and nutrition (human health and medical equipment, agrotechnologies and agrifood)
Applied technologies (optics-photonics, computer-based solutions and computer technologies, security and defense, Green Building)

For the Portneuf RCM, whose economy is more heavily based on the manufacturing sector, the Agency gives priority instead to projects that foster the development of the following sectors:

Agrifood
Materials processing (secondary wood processing, composite materials, plastics, metal products)

For the Charlevoix and Charlevoix-Est RCMs, whose economy is comparable to that of the outlying regions, the Agency gives priority instead to projects that foster the development of the following sectors:

Agrifood
Forest products
Tourism

Preference is given to the following types of intervention:

Productivity support
Innovation support
Export support

Ressources Entreprises: Offers professional support and specialized information services on all private and government programs and services to entrepreneurs in Eastern Quebec.
Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs): CFDCs contribute to the economic development of their communities by providing services to enterprises: access to funding, technical assistance and support for local, youth and female entrepreneurship.

Community Economic Development Corporations (CEDCs) (french): CEDCs focus on the economic and social revitalization of the most disadvantaged urban neighbourhoods by stimulating the startup of small businesses in their areas.

Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) of NRC: Supports SMEs in approving and developing new products or procedures. Financial assistance is awarded after the project has been assessed by an industrial technology advisor.
Québec international: Offers a range of services to SMEs in the Québec metropolitan region in the areas of export readiness, marketing of new products and services, operational efficiency and innovative startups. Organizes activities (workshops, diagnostics, action plans, trade missions, etc.).
Ag-Bio Centre (french): Offers incubator services, such as premises, scientific equipment and business training, to promote the development of enterprises and management knowledge transfer.
Fonds d'emprunt économique communautaire (Québec) (FEÉCQ) (french): Access to credit and technical support in order for individual enterprises and groups of enterprises to carry out viable projects, including social economy projects.
