The Agency encourages the development of Estrie business communities by assisting the region’s SMEs with their projects directly. We also assist economic development stakeholders and the economic organizations that support these SMEs.

Regional priorities

In the Estrie region, the Agency gives priority to projects that foster the development of the following sectors:

High technology intensity (environment, micro-electronic, new materials as well as biotechnologies and life sciences)
Materials processing (metal products, rubber and plastic as well as nonmetallic mineral products)
Security and defence

Network of service delivery partners

Info entrepreneurs: Offers information services to businesses from all sectors and at every stage of development. Provides access to information on federal and provincial departments as well as to integrated information products and interactive tools.
Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs): CFDCs contribute to the economic development of their communities by providing services to enterprises: access to funding, technical assistance and support for local, youth and female entrepreneurship.

Centres d’Aide aux Entreprises (CAE): The Centres d'Aide aux Entreprises (CAE) play a role in the economic development of the regions they serve by providing SMEs with financial assistance and consulting services to stimulate the creation and maintenance of jobs.

Community Economic Development Corporations (CEDCs) (french): CEDCs focus on the economic and social revitalization of the most disadvantaged urban neighbourhoods by stimulating the startup of small businesses in their areas.

Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) of NRC: Supports SMEs in approving and developing new products or procedures. Financial assistance is awarded after the project has been assessed by an industrial technology advisor.
Maison régionale de l’industrie (MRI) (french): Offers individual coaching services to SMEs to guide them in their move toward e-business and inform them of resources available. In association with the Electronic Commerce Institute, offers e-business training and watch activities.
